TYPE

Underground Drainage Pipes and Fittings:

  • Material: Often made from PVC, these pipes are durable, resistant to corrosion, and can handle high volumes of water.
  • Design: Typically, they are designed to be slightly flexible to withstand earth movements. They often come in diameters ranging from 110mm to 160mm for standard residential use.
  • Fittings: Include bends, junctions, reducers, and connectors to facilitate directional changes and branching off. Rubber rings are used for sealing joints to prevent leaks.
  • Colour: Commonly found in terracotta or black colour to differentiate them from above-ground pipes.
  • Applications: Used for carrying waste and rainwater away from buildings to sewer or septic systems.

Overground Drainage Pipes and Fittings:

  • Material: These are usually made of materials like PVC.
  • Design: They are more rigid compared to underground pipes. Diameters vary based on their use, with smaller sizes for residential and larger for commercial buildings.
  • Fittings: Include elbows, T-joints, couplings, and brackets for mounting to walls or ceilings. They often have screw fittings or push-fit designs for easy installation.
  • Colour: Often white, black or light grey, making them easily distinguishable from underground pipes.
  • Applications: Used for carrying waste water from fixtures (like sinks, toilets, and showers) to the underground drainage system.
These are used in soil and waste systems, where the pipes are joined using a solvent weld process. The weld creates a strong, permanent bond, making the system leak-proof and durable. Ideal for high-pressure applications or where a secure joint is crucial.

Medium-Density Polyethylene (MDPE) coils and fittings are used primarily for water supply. MDPE is known for its toughness and flexibility, making it ideal for water pipes. These coils are often used in long lengths to reduce the need for joints, and the fittings ensure secure and leak-free connections.
